Lessons on the Journey from 6-Figure Debt to 7-figure Success
"You know the struggles that I went through and I feel it is a dishonor to die with your testimony. So I had to make the decision to be vulnerable and to lay it all on the line."
I wrote the book to provide a transparent look at my struggles through near financial disaster (total around 400k) to debt freedom and a 7-figure portfolio. It was difficult to share my struggles with depression and fear, which almost led to my demise due to suicidal thoughts. BUT GOD! I truly believe we do a disservice to ourselves and mankind if we don’t share our testimonies so that others can glean insight and inspiration to help them on their own journeys.
So many people assume that I had it all together since I was a physician, but that belief was far from the truth. In the book, I talk about some of the lowest moments that I faced alone due to my trying to keep up the façade that everything was okay. The weight of my own and other’s expectations was very heavy which almost crushed me. However, through fasting and prayer, I found my voice and realized that I needed help on this journey. I realized that it took me being honest about how I got into the situation and how important it was to reshape my money mindset. I share my revelations about how our money DNA is shaped and give useful strategies to help others on their own personal journey.writer today!
It is so important to first show yourself grace and be forgiving of past transgressions. We can’t alter where we come from and our personal and family histories, but we can decide where we’re going.
In the book, I share my revelation that helped to shift my money mindset. I realized that changing our financial DNA begins with acknowledging the past and recognizing the stories, beliefs, and experiences that have shaped our financial behavior. I want people to educate themselves—no one is born understanding the fundamentals of finance, investing, compound interest, or debt management. Once you have this increased knowledge, you will be better equipped to have the right people around you to help you on your journey. Whether it's a financial advisor, a mentor, or a therapist—or all three!—find those who can guide you, and they will help you see that while
short-term challenges are inevitable, the crucial thing is to focus on the larger picture.
The biggest message that I want readers to grasp that the financial DNA we have to date does not have to be our destiny. It’s just a starting point. We have the power to shape, mold, and edit it, and if we need to, reset it entirely, directing it towards a future of abundance and financial security. Your journey may be uniquely yours, but with the right mindset and tools, you can change not just your financial trajectory, but also that of generations to come.
I am very passionate about sharing what I have learned on my journeys dealing with financial woes, mental health and living with chronic illnesses. I want others to learn from my downfalls and hopefully change the trajectory of their futures. I will continue to inspire others with my books, speaking engagements, and retreats. I also look forward to sharing on the TEDx stage in March 2024.
